Stephan Bauman is the president and CEO of World Relief, where he oversees 2,500 staff around the globe. His pursuit of justice led him to Africa, where he lived for eight years, most recently in Rwanda with his wife, Belinda, and two sons, Joshua and Caleb.
Stephan lives to see people everywhere rise to the call of justice and give their lives in ways that empower the poor toward real change—a journey he continues to pursue.
He holds degrees from Johns Hopkins University, Wheaton College, and the University of Wisconsin and is an ordained minister and a certified public accountant. Stephan considers his African friends his most important teachers, and his wife, Belinda, his most important mentor.
Stephan’s third book, Break Open The Sky: Saving Our Faith from a Culture of Fear (Multnomah Books, 2017) invites readers to experience Jesus’s core yet counterintuitive teachings on truth, love, and risk, where you can find freedom from the fear of the unknown, release from the uncertainty of the other, and liberation from the anxieties that hold you back.
Stephan, Belinda, and their two sons live near Grand Rapids, Michigan, and together enjoy the woods, the arts, and late night conversations with friends.
